I was pushed to explore and come to terms with data around reading for Spanish speaking Emergent Bilingual students.
Looking at National data and first grade reading data, I knew that I had to do better for the Spanish speaking Emergent Bilingual students in my classroom. As great as their classroom experiences may be, if I am not using research based, high quality instruction to set them on their way to becoming lifelong readers, I am doing a disservice to all of the students in my classroom.
